Southampton Town Police responded to the hamlet of Water Mill’s Shou Sugi Ban House on Montauk Highway after a staff member found a guest dead in her room at around 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28.

At the time, the agency said the death appeared to be an isolated incident and that there was no immediate danger to the public.

In an update Tuesday morning, Oct. 29, Suffolk County Police identified the woman as 33-year-old Sabina Rosas, of Brooklyn, and said she was a victim of violence.

Authorities did not speculate on the nature of Rosas’ death. An official cause will be determined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office.

No suspects had been publicly identified or arrested as of Tuesday morning.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Suffolk County Police homicide detectives at 631-852-6392 or Suffolk County Crime Stoppers.

Shou Sugi Ban House bills itself as an award-winning wellness retreat and luxury spa focused on “global healing arts practices.” Daily Voice has reached out to the business for comment.
